Brad and I have been trying to get Tyce to walk for months. We are going to Mexico in a couple weeks and we REALLY wanted him to be walking so he wasn't crawling around on the dirty ground...well I guess that pretty much applies anywhere...anywho...The kid was just not interested! He is 15 months old so he is prime age to be walking, but everytime we try to get him to walk he just gets jello legs. It is so anoying because there is absolutly nothing you can do to get him to stand up. He is in total control and I think he knows it! The thing is I know his legs are strong enough, he has been walking on furniture for 5 months now at least. Well tonight we finally had a breakthrough. My family was over (including my Great Aunt Patti who was in town visiting) and we were sitting in the family room and all of the sudden Tyce let go of the couch and took 2 solid steps to my mom, just out of the blue, with no encouragement. We both just looked at each other and were like "did you just see that?!" I know 2 steps doesn't sound like much but for a kid that just goes jello legs everytime you make him try this was a BIG step (no pun intended). We tried to get him to do it again and you can guess what happened...yep...jello legs. But he did it a couple more times while my family was here, of course when no one was expecting it. Apparently it has to be on his terms and no one elses. Flash forward to his teenage years and this could be a bad thing :)

Dallin didn't walk until he was almost 16 months... I know how frusterating it is!! You can't help but wonder if somethings wrong with your kid! Isn't it so fun to see them walking though? I remember being worried when I was pregnant with my second that the 'firsts' wouldn't be as exciting the second time around... it was very reassuring to find that it IS just as special!
That is awsome..He is going to just take off one of these days. I swear these kids think they are in charge and they do everything on their own time.
Destenee & Brad, This is Aunt Patti commentn'..Your Grandma MR taught me how to see your blogs thru her email.
What a special deal to get included in "the" first steps as well as see your cool house. Bob & I are still reminiscing our Salt Lake visit. Favorites were time with your MOM---(She is 50 Thurs!), Kye in Bob's lap, lunch in Heber, Temple Square and dinner with yall. The Nelsons are par with the grandeur of the G Canyon. TX MR and JULES-goodlokn50 4 sharn.

Watch out now he will surprise you and start running. You may regret wanting him to walk, just kidding it's so great when our kids hit these fun milestones.
I know exactly what you mean by jello legs-- Carson does the same thing! Cute blog! And what a scary story about Ky- I am so glad that everything turned out OK.
