So my middle son Ky has built up this relationship with the horse next door. Ever since we moved in a couple months ago Ky has been
obsessed with feeding the horses. He loves to go out to the fence and pick weeds and feed them to the horses. There is one horse
in particular that seems to like Ky. He is always the first one to walk over to Ky and he will stay the whole time Ky is at the fence, even if his fellow horse has gotten bored and wandered away. I have on
occasion had to tell
KyKy not to climb the fence, but
usually he is just content to feed the horse. It is so funny to me because he is not scared AT ALL of this big horse. Well two days ago Ky to
their relationship to a whole new level. He was outside feeding the horses and I was on the phone with my sister. I looked out the window to check on him and he had climbed up the fence and it looked like he was giving the horse a hug. Now this is nothing to unusual, but I walked to the back door to tell Ky that he needed to get down. Well by the time I got to the door and opened it Ky had swung his leg over and was now SITTING ON TOP OF THE HORSE. I said to my sister "holy crap, Ky's on the horse I gotta go!" I knew I needed to be calm because I didn't want to scare the horse and have him take off running, or freak out Ky because he might jump off knowing he was in trouble for sitting on the horse. So I put some shoes on and walked calmly and slowly out to the pasture. At this point Ky had no idea that he was in trouble because i was trying not to look mad. He was
sooooo proud of himself. He just kept saying..."look mommy, i on the horsey", with a huge grin on his face. I grabbed some weeds and walked over to the horse, all the while he was just standing there, really hardly moving at all. I held the weeds out and he took a couple steps towards me and grabbed them. It kinda freaked Ky out when the horse moved because he didn't know what to hold on to. I quickly grabbed Ky and we were off to the house to time-out. I wish I could have gotten a picture, but I was to scared that he might fall or something, but to capture that face on Ky would have been priceless. It blows my mind that
KyKy is so unafraid of that horse. I know he would climb back up there in a second if given the chance. In fact he was out there the day after with my sister and she said that Ky started climbing the fence again and the horse actually turned his back end to the fence to get in position for Ky to climb on.
Unbelievable. Maybe we have a horse
whisperer in training.

Holy Cow!! I can't believe he got up on that horse! That takes talent.
He is so cute. That is so cool that he and the horse are 'connecting'! :) You were good to be so calm - good thinking on your part.
Amazing! Those kind of antics sure give a mom's heart a work out! Are we seeing a mini ranch in the Hartley's future?
